Happy Chanukah!

To all of my Jewish friends, I wish you a very Happy Chanukah!

I have to admit, we didn't do much to celebrate around here.  Dad and I sort of exchanged gifts - I bought him a book he wanted last week, he bought me a charm for my Pandora bracelet (which I actually ordered using his debit card, he has no idea how to buy things online,) and it arrived today.  Happy coincidence!  We ate pizza and salad, then plugged in the electric menorah.

Tomorrow night, my aunt and uncle, and some family friends, are coming over for dinner.  I'm making an herb roasted chicken dish with sweet onions and butternut squash.  I found the recipe in Self magazine.  I've never worked with butternut squash before, I don't think I've even tasted it before, so this should be a bit of an adventure for me,  I figure Monday night we'll have turkey salad and potato latkes, which is our traditional Chanukah dinner.  Some people think it's a strange choice, but that's what mom mom always made, so I'm making it, too.  Thought I might buy the latkes- I'm not always a "from scratch" kind of person.
