Thanks, anyway
I want to thank everyone who tried to help me with my computer problem. Unfortunately, nothing has worked. Whenever I tried to download ANY of the programs you mentioned, a box would come up right after the download was complete, telling me the file couldn't be opened. I think I'm going to have to bring the machine to a professional. But with the state of my finances right now, I can't do that until the beginning of next month. I'll just have to muddle through, I guess.

Thank you all, so much. I love you guys! *Hugs you all*

I'm sorry, Andi! I wish one of those suggestions had worked. I hope the professional you take it to is able to find the problem and get rid of it quickly and at a very reasonable cost.

Thanks, Carol. I was hoping they would work, too! I guess I should start that backup I keep planning on doing, and keep putting off. If they have to completely reinstall Windows, I want to make sure I don't lose any of my personal files.

Maybe you could try an online antivirus program? Although it looks like they can identify the viruses, but not get rid of them. (But maybe you'll get lucky and be able to delete the file manually? Even if it doesn't get rid of the virus totally it might at least let your download/install a new antivirus before the virus gets itself rooted again...)

I've tried a few different programs. Malware, Zone Attack, something else. None of them would work. If you can think of something else that might, by all means let me know.

Thank you, sweetie.

I don't know what kind of computer problems you're having, but it sounds pretty serious. I sure hope you don't have to re-install your entire operating system. We've done that, and you lose everything. It's like starting with a brand new computer. Ugh.

Hang in there, though. Waiting sucks, but it will work out.

I have a feeling that that's exactly what I'm going to have to do. I have a couple of hours to kill tomorrow night, I'm going to start backing up everything. This way, at least I won't lose 6 and a half years worth of pics and files. Sigh. I hate this!

Hey, I've been having computer problems all weekend along with many others on my f-list. Apparently the latest Windows update is messing lots of computers up. I was able to get mine running again by going into the Safe Mode prompt page and selected set computer back to the last stable something or other. My computer started right back up. I didn't see your previous post yet, so I have no idea if this helpful at all.

How do you get to the Safe Mode page? That's something I've never done before.

If you can't download anything, have you tried Trend Micro's online virus scanner? It's free and you don't need to download anything, so maybe it would work?

I'll give it a try, sweetie. Thanks for the info.
