Dad Drama
So, Dad's been seeing Shelley for a while, and it's getting pretty serious. They're talking about having overnights after their dates. Fine with me, whatever, as long as I don't have to know the details.

But last week, Ruth started calling again. To Dad's credit, he hasn't answered he phone. But he was disturbed enough to visit his shrink. Apparently Ruth sent him a letter, and has started leaving him voicemails. Then, earlier tonight, I heard Dad on the phone with my sister. He told her that his doctor said he shouldn't contact Ruth for at least two weeks, give her a chance to give up. But, Dad says to my sister, he's going to call Ruth anyway. Tomorrow, when I'm out of the house for a while. I think this is a horrifically bad idea, in any way, shape or form. He's nuts about Shelley, who is kind, generous and caring, so I can't imagine him running back to Ruth. I'm assuming he wants to call Ruth to tell her's seeing someone else, but I can't say that for sure. All I can say is that if he gets back involved with that psychopathic bitch, I will go absolutely freaking crazy. I am NOT dealing with that nonsense again!

Oh geez. She is like a crazy obsessed stalker!!!

Kurt does NOT approve! :::points to icon:::

I was thinking that earlier, that she's turned into some kind of stalker. Creepy, so creepy.

Thank you for the LJ gift today, sweetie. I really got a kick (or is that a kiss) out of it!

It is best for all three, EVEN Ruth. Really, it would be good if he wrote her a letter detailing why he doesn't want to be with her, reiterating that he is with someone else now and wishing her well. And did not ever respond to any replies.

That would be the perfect way to deal with it. I don't like this calling her back business, it can only lead to trouble.

When I got home from my appointment, I asked Dad if he called Ruth and he said absolutely not. I think he was telling the truth.

I certainly hope so. Doing otherwise is evidence of insanity, IMHO. He needs to ignore her completely and hope that she doesn't turn into a dangerous stalker. If that is what is coming, not ignoring wouldn't help. Ruth seems to be a "give an inch, take a mile" sort, so calling or writing or communicating with her in any fashion will almost certainly lead to more encounters.

That's what I told him, and so did my sister, his therapist and MY therapist (well she told me, and I told him). He seems to understand that, fortunately.
