I just can't catch a break!
New York was wonderful. Beautiful weather, my niece is even more adorable, and my sister is planning on leaving the angry bastard she calls a boyfriend. She also has a cold. (More on that later.)

We got home late afternoon Sunday. When I walked into my bedroom, I noticed the left side of my rug was damp. By Monday, we had the beginnings of a pond. We called a plumber in Tuesday, who fortunately found the leak and fixed it quickly. Then the restoration company that redid our bathroom came over. They set up two fans and some kind of humidifier in my bedroom. They came to check on it today, and said everything is going really well They should be able to remove the equipment tomorrow. All told, the repairs will cost about $1000. Yes, it's a lot of money, but it's not nearly as much as we thought it would be.

Meanwhile, I've relocated to my father's bedroom, while he's relocated to the couch. He gave me the bed because I am, once again, sick as a dog. Every damn time I travel. My sister had a bad cold, so I must have caught it. I thought the worst was over after my fever went down on Monday, but by today my entire head felt like it was being squeezed by a giant clamp. Everything hurts- my head, my ears, my teeth, even! I called my GP, who is out of the office until the 22nd, with no ones covering him. Therefore I had to go to Urgent Care, one of those clinics that of course take every insurance but mine. I had to pay $100 for a short exam and a prescription for an antibiotic. I'll consider it money well spent if I just get better!

Anyhow, during all of this I managed to send out the Chanukah cards. I'm going to tackle Christmas next, I promise.

Oh no! What a horrible homecoming. Hope you feel better soon. *hugs* And yay for your niece and for your sister getting away from her boyfriend.

Thanks, Maddie. I hope my sister really means it. Her boyfriend was on his best behavior this weekend, and I hope she'll still. go through with it. She and Skylar deserve so much more.
